The 38 participants in the first-ever intensive, silent 10-day progrAm inside the walls of a corrections facility?many serving life sentences without parole?detail the range of their experiences, the depth of their understanding of the Buddha?s teachings gained by direct experience, and their setbacks and successes. The ratification process was completed in March 1781, legally federating the sovereign and independent states, allied under the Articles of Association, into a new federation styled the "United States of America". Under the Articles the states retained sovereignty over all governmental functions not specifically relinquished to the central government.

It also seeks to catalogue some equally tumultuous years in opposition politics in South Africa when the realigNment of opposition parties for which many hoped failed to materialise.? ? Raenette Taljaard As an independent review panel later concluded, Parliament either lost its way or lost the faith of the South African public during the process. Up in Arms documents this specific moment of institutional darkness in vivid detail and serves to remind us that it was not only reputations that were damaged by the arms deal saga but also core institutions of South Africa?s new d…
